Blue Dot and You (Dot)
I came across this newer social bookmarking site called Blue Dot and have given it a whirl and my initial thoughts are - “sweet” or “cool” or some other banal description. No, seriously - this is a great resource and they have a Firefox Plugin that makes the implementation of this system a snap.
For those of you who are scratching your heads going “what’s social bookmarking“, let me give you a little overview of the basic concept.
Step 1: You come across a cool site in your daily travels around the ‘Net.
Step 2: That little light-bulb thing appears above your head (you know, the “idea light”)
Step 3: You may or may not also exclaim “Ah-Ha!”
Step 4: You think to yourself, I’d like to file this site away for future reference AND it I should let my friends know about this.
Step 5: With Blue Dot - you click a little blue button in your toolbar and VOILA! - you enter some thoughts about why you like this site and add some tags so you can quickly find this link when you need to.
That’s it! Now friends (you can make the viewing of this private or public) can see what you find interesting. You can also quickly reference this later on from any browser/computer. SLICK!
Another, more popular site that does this is del.icio.us but I like the ease of Blue Dot better so I have made the switch. Plus, it’s much prettier.
