I read this quote in my daily “Quotes of the Day” and found it rather humorous so I thought I’d pass it along.
The shortest distance between two points is under construction. – Noelie Altito

I am a creature of habits. It never ceases to amaze me how we are programmed to respond to our senses. For me, there are many instances where a certain song will trigger certain memories (some good, some not-so-good).
Today was an example of that. For those living here in Portland, we had a little gift early this morning – rain which, after a long and hot period, is a welcomed part of the summer.
Rain has always been one huge “trigger” for me and unlike many folks who complain about the rain, I personally am quite fond of the falling precipitation. There’s a unique smell of rain that I absolutely love and along the lines of music triggers – in the case of rain, it often leads to an urge to listen to jazz.
So, today was a jazz day … and a lovely one at that.

I have a new “favorite” activity.
I’ve come to absolutely enjoy deleting things. It’s liberating to trash the things that are just taking up space. Of course, the term “delete” refers to the digital baggage of life but the same goes for the physical things in life.
My new guilty pleasure is getting rid of things I don’t want or need.
I think I’m going to walk upstairs now and throw something else in the Goodwill pile. Sound exciting, huh?

If you're looking for a good coffee shop with a great environment and all the amenities for a wireless professional - Sydney's is the place. Being the cheap-skate that I am, I loathe the notion of paying for parking so when I find a cool and hip spot with plenty of FREE parking, then my choice is made up. There are some other great shops not far from here (Urban Grind, Sips & Kranz to name two)...but those require an act called "feeding the meter". Ew.Sydney's is located down under the 405 bridge just outside of the Pearl District here in Portland, Oregon. It has that old brick warehouse feel with tall ceilings, hardwood floors and tall sliding doors that they open on warm summer days. (for the curious ones - the address is 1800 NW 16th Ave, Portland OR)It's a perfect location to escape the distractions of the home...
Read MoreI actually picked this book as an add-on to another purchase on Amazon.com. Hey, I'm a sucker for “good deals” so a discount on two books over just one enticed me enough to say “ok - here's more money”. This book, “Made to Stick” by Chip Heath and Dan Heath was an amazingly insightful book that offered a great look at what makes good ideas stand out from those that don't. In reference to the term “stick”, it's about making an idea, concept, product or message remain with the person or persons who hear it for a longer period of time. While at first glance, you may think that this sounds like a book for marketers or advertisers, I would challenge nearly everyone (except self-proclaimed hermits) to consider the content of what this book has to offer. I purchased and read this book with the notion of looking...
