I came across this neat trick on the TechPwn site that gives simple instructions on making your AIM message account (I use iChat which utilized the AIM network) send text messages to cellphone numbers. The benefits of this is that I don’t need to take the extra time it requires to type on my tiny cellphone keyboard (I use a Treo so it’s not too bad – but not as fast as an actual keyboard).

This past Friday I had the pleasure of playing guitar for a good friend (Evie Haskell). It was a night to raise funds for House of Ruth – a home for single mothers that gives these young mothers a chance to be a part of a home and develop the necessary skills to become success stories. We ended up raising $1,300!!!

In the past few weeks, I've been making strides on organizing an overly hectic life (personal/work) to make it, well, less hectic. As easy as it is to think that all I need is MORE time, the truth is I have the exact amount of time and I need to work/think smarter with that time instead of hoping for something that is impossible. Enter the "Getting Things Done" way of thinking that is slowly but surely revolutionizing the way I manage my "stuff". I've implemented things step-by-step at my day job at the church where I serve and now I'm getting my home business organized. It takes time because it's a complete overhaul of my previous "non"-system I had before. However, the results to-date are awesome. I'm able to manage more in less time and keep myself on task without burning myself out mentally with the stress of...
Read MoreThis was so popular when first released, that soon after they made their beta version public, they were overwhelmed by everyone who wanted this that they had to shut down temporarily and move to a much more robust server. That says volumes about how wanted this tool is. So, what's the tool? It's called "Spanning Sync" [ www.spanningsync.com ] and it's an absolute godsend. This tool will now allow me (Mac user) to synchronize my iCal (only the coolest calendar app out there) with Google calendar. Why do I need this? Well, as a worship leader, one of the biggest ongoing problems with team organization is calendar planning and this will now allow the entire leadership team to manage multiple calendars that will all synch and stay current no matter what OS (operating system) or web browser you use. Sa-weet! Note - they do say on their website that this...
Read MoreI came across this newer social bookmarking site called Blue Dot and have given it a whirl and my initial thoughts are - "sweet" or "cool" or some other banal description. No, seriously - this is a great resource and they have a Firefox Plugin that makes the implementation of this system a snap. For those of you who are scratching your heads going "what's social bookmarking", let me give you a little overview of the basic concept. Step 1: You come across a cool site in your daily travels around the 'Net. Step 2: That little light-bulb thing appears above your head (you know, the "idea light") Step 3: You may or may not also exclaim "Ah-Ha!" Step 4: You think to yourself, I'd like to file this site away for future reference AND it I should let my friends know about this. Step 5: With Blue Dot - you click a little blue...
