I came across this neat trick on the TechPwn site that gives simple instructions on making your AIM message account (I use iChat which utilized the AIM network) send text messages to cellphone numbers.  The benefits of this is that I don’t need to take the extra time it requires to type on my tiny cellphone keyboard (I use a Treo so it’s not too bad – but not as fast as an actual keyboard).

This past Friday I had the pleasure of playing guitar for a good friend (Evie Haskell). It was a night to raise funds for House of Ruth – a home for single mothers that gives these young mothers a chance to be a part of a home and develop the necessary skills to become success stories. We ended up raising $1,300!!!

This was so popular when first released, that soon after they made their beta version public, they were overwhelmed by everyone who wanted this that they had to shut down temporarily and move to a much more robust server. That says volumes about how wanted this tool is. So, what's the tool? It's called "Spanning Sync" [ www.spanningsync.com ] and it's an absolute godsend. This tool will now allow me (Mac user) to synchronize my iCal (only the coolest calendar app out there) with Google calendar. Why do I need this? I came across this newer social bookmarking site called Blue Dot and have given it a whirl and my initial thoughts are - "sweet" or "cool" or some other banal description. No, seriously - this is a great resource and they have a Firefox Plugin that makes the implementation of this system a snap. For those of you who are scratching your heads going "what's social bookmarking", let me give you a little overview of the basic concept.
