This book review may not appeal to everyone but for those engaged in marketing at any level (for-profit or non-profit and everything in-between), this is a book you might want to put on your to-read list. The author, Larry Weber, speaks from decades of experience in the advancement of web technologies and how they are used to reach and connect people and companies/products. The focus of this book, as the title implies, is on the "Social Web" in relation to marketing but the book looks at more than just the obvious things that come to mind such as MySpace for Facebook. When we use the phrase "social web", the grander idea relates to the use of the web and web technologies to bring people together in a way that creates and enhances a sort of "digital community". The author covers everything from Facebook to YouTube to blogs and approaches like utilizing...
Read MoreIf you're like me, life at times can quickly get out of hand and before you know it, your email is stretching in the 100+ area with 200 and 300 not far behind (the physical, paper-based inbox isn't much different). I used to use my email as my to-do list, and, to be honest, at times I still do that. But I'm constantly exploring ways to maximize my time and avoid the trap of merely living in "the urgent". When people start asking me about the status of a project or request that I've completely forgotten about because it was buried under a digital or physical pile, then I know it's time to get back to the basics. The folks over at 43Folders.com have written extensively about this problem and their solution is referred to as "INBOX ZERO". I can speak from personal experience and say that I am at my...
Read MoreOne of my current pet-peeves with the iPhone App store is that there really is no efficient way to sort through all the “junk” applications as I search for those great and useful applications. Unlike many others – I’m not a big fan of all the games that keep occupying the bulk of the “popular iPhone app” listings… (ok, I do have a Sudoku game and a couple others). Overall, I like things that are useful and (hopefully) help me manage my time and resources better.
All that to say, here is a site that is at least trying to weed through all the fluff and talk about the new apps being made available.

This (see below) just crossed my path and I'm sitting here a bit stunned and saying to myself "not again"? It turns out the song Healer which has been a song of hope and comfort for me these past weeks was written by a man who quite frankly lied about the entire story behind the song. Why I say "not again" is that I had a similar story of a close friend who reported that he was terminal ... then reported a miraculous healing ... then was exposed as someone who made the whole thing up. This is heart-wrenching and I must admit that it really breaks my heart to have encountered such deception from fellow believers. How can people drag the name of Christ through something so...un-Christ-like? I'm baffled and am once again feeling that bite of indignation. All that to say - since I posted a glowing reference to this...
