Well, my grand plans of becoming a consistent reader have been going well. See my old post here about my great one-book-per-week challenge. However, as the title suggests, as of today (Monday) I'm officially behind in my great challenge. However, in my defense, the past week was about as active of a week as I could have had so, considering the circumstances, I still feel good about what I was able to accomplish. On top of that - I tackled a bit of an epic book so I think this time it's a one-per-TWO-week span. Insights? For one - I must admit that I have, for the longest time, had a love-hate thing with TV & movies. At times it is good to sit back and really unwind...but the problem is that there aren't that many good and wholesome films that really add anything to life. This weekend I saw a...
Read MoreI'm a self-avowed productivity junkie and I've been a fan of GTD ever since I read the book by David Allen. How much I apply in my daily life isn't always as consistent as I would like and I have frequent lapses into "living in the urgent" - but that's a personal matter that I have to keep working through. I keep a printed copy of the GTD flow (if this doesn't make sense to you - I suggest checking out the book) on the board behind my desk and it's a great visual reminder of my desired information processing flow. Well, here's another addition to my repertoire of reminders ... some new computer desktops (go ahead, roll your eyes). If you're on the GTD bandwagon, check out the following site for some simple and, for me, powerful reminders of how things should keep coming in and going out. [ 3 More...
Read MoreI came across this blog entry during my mad-dash through countless RSS feeds that hadn't been read in awhile. (Let's just say a few weeks of no attention leads to a rather large number of "unread" entries.) I'm one who loves a good challenge and to take on one more challenge may or may not be a good idea but in this case, I think the benefits of doing the "ONE BOOK PER WEEK" challenge outweigh the negatives...so, here I go. If you think you're up the challenge, let me know and we'll create a "Book Posse" of sorts to keep each other on track. For me, since we're halfway through the week and I just happen to be half-way through a book already - I'll just continue and finish it out by Saturday. Along with the following article - they mentioned a site that I signed-up for and I think it...
Read More[ UPDATE (8.21.08): Sadly, the "story" behind this song has been proven false and although the lyrics are powerful and transcend any fallible individual...this is a heart-breaking story of deception. Thankfully, our God is perfect which is what invites us to cling to Him as our ONLY Hope and Salvation. I have removed the video from this blog post for obvious reasons. ] I had a friend recently talk with excitement about a new song called "Healer" on Hillsong's live worship album This Is Our God. Well, when I hear someone rave about a worship song, I tend to go on an immediate search as soon as I get online. Sadly, the Hillsong recording is not yet available for sale here in the US but I did have a chance to watch a video about the album and the experience that was recorded. The song is called Healer by Michael Gugliemucci from Planetshakers...
