Vote N.O. on Measure 49
I’ve tried to avoid too much politics on this blog but this is one thing that I feel must be spoken out about. This is one of the most misunderstood measures that is the product of a significant effort on the part of bureaucrats and special interest groups to get back at Oregonians for their audacity in passing Measure 37 during the last election.
The entire “Yes-on-49″ campaign has been masterful in their advertising (ahem, propaganda efforts) and I can see where many smart voters may be suckered into voting for something that is an affront to property owners in Oregon.
Vote NO to a system that serves to give the politicians of this state the right to steal what isn’t theirs (stealing is taking something that’s not yours without paying for it). It’s not about subdivisions or farms … it’s about the right of legitimate property owners to own their land. If the state wants to secure property, then they should have to pay the proper value for that property - not just come in and essentially steal from the residents of this state to appease special interests.
Don’t buy into the plea on the part of “farmers”. Truth be told - farmers are largely against this because at the core, it’s their own rights to use their property that is threatened by this measure that further encroaches on the rights of citizens.
There has been plenty of over-the-top “stories” that are meant to make this an emotional vote rather than a rational and thoughtful one. No-one wants to see Oregon paved - but neither do we want politicians taking over more and more control of our basic rights as citizens.
Think and vote rationally - for the GOOD of Oregon - today and tomorrow.
Vote NO on Measure 49.
